Blood is medicine!
Every year, more than 100,000 patients of all ages, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds are recipients of donated blood provided by San Diego Blood Bank.
These patients are struggling with a wide variety of life-threatening medical conditions including cancer and other blood disorders, severe burns, organ transplants, trauma, emergency surgeries, childbirth complications and more.
One thing they all have in common is their need for donated blood to live for there is no substitute.
Support blood collection resources like bags and supplies, critical equipment, and our Campaign for Life that funds Bloodmobiles and Trima systems.

Blood Bags & Supplies
It costs $60 to collect one unit of blood. It costs $150 for an apheresis platelet kit. Help fund critical supplies and resources like blood collection kits.
Critical Equipment
SDBB needs specialized equipment to collect, process, and store blood components before they are ready for transfusion. Help fund Trima systems, centrifuges and more.
Greatest Need
Fuel SDBB’s mission by making a gift to support our greatest needs. This year, SDBB’s greatest need is three new bloodmobiles and 14 Trima systems.
