Hundreds of Padres fans, local families and blood donors came out to Petco Park at the Park on June 18th to donate blood with San Diego Blood Bank at the 3rd Annual Padres Summer Blood Drive presented by Sycuan Casino Resort!

This year, the Padres Blood Drive collected 504 pints of blood impacting up to 1,512 lives. Our sincere gratitude to SDBB corporate sponsors, volunteers, staff, and blood donors for making the day such a great event

Stepping up to the plate

Blood donors received a voucher for two tickets to the upcoming Padres / Baltimore Orioles game on July 29 or July 30.

SDCCU offered two chances to win $500 and a cash cube while many donors also received Padres swag, t-shirts, and more.

The Padsquad rallied the crowds with the Swingin’ Friar in tow, giving high fives and hugs to fans and lifesavers alike. Padres rookies and alumni came out to sign some autographs for eager fans.

THANK YOU, BLOOD DONORS

As blood recipients with a rare form of anemia—beta thalassemia major—Kamila and Ella (and their families) enjoy attending San Diego Blood Bank events and blood drives to personally meet and thank local blood donors for their lifesaving gift of life. Both girls receive blood transfusions every few weeks at Rady Children’s Hospital and often support each other through the process which has created a friendship that will last a lifetime. Kamila and Ella are healthy today because of blood donations and blood drives like this one.

Team Survivor’s Aidan Good, Trevor Colbert (pictured left), and Kennedy Dawn also came out to the Padres Blood Drive to thank blood donors and enjoy the festivities offered by the Padres, Sycuan, SDCCU, and the radio stations.

Trevor Colbert received blood transfusions due to a heart defect.

We are so grateful to the Padres, our sponsors and our community for helping to boost our blood supply as we head into the summer. The summer months are some of the toughest for blood banks across the country. This drive is literally a lifesaver for local hospital patients.
